As a man reads, so he thinks, and other facts

This is why I have stayed away from reading news that is out of the big power houses.  IT IS ALL HOGWASH.  For those who do not know what that means (per a quick search using Bing of which I particularly fond of ‘gobbledygook’):

hogwash

[ˈhôɡˌwôSH, ˈhäɡˌwäSH]

NOUN

informal

  1. nonsense.
    synonyms:

    nonsense · rubbish · balderdash · gibberish · blarney · claptrap · guff · blather · blether · rot · baloney · tripe · drivel · gobbledygook · bilge · bosh · bull · bunk · hot air · eyewash · piffle · poppycock · phooey · hooey · malarkey · twaddle · dribble · cobblers ·

I also realized that if we want real information that it is available.

I am tired.  I am tired of being concerned for America and its government.  I am tired of being concerned for my children and their rights as citizens to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as codified in the Constitution of the United States of America.  I am tired of wanting to ‘freeze’ time in the past because, truth be told, there is no time in the past that is worth freezing.  Any time that people want to freeze means that the time period chosen benefits them.

Do we want to freeze time right after World War II?  The American economy was booming right along.  Marketing found its doctorate level propaganda in the ‘tube’ of televisions.  White men had jobs and white women kept the house up in their suburban neighborhood, making sure to have their husband’s laundry done, dinner prepped, and the children home in time for family supper.  But what about Europeans or Jews after World War II?  What about Russians or Germans or the Polish people?  What about the French? Remember Berlin and the wall that was built?  What about African Americans in America after the War to End All Wars?  Apparently Argentina was the place to go if you were German and running from war crimes.  Who knows what was happening in the Middle-East, the rest of Africa, or any part of Asia aside from Russia and Japan.

Identify for me a time in history that is perfect to freeze?  There is none.  This is what Democrats understand that Republicans don’t, at least not the voters.  Democratic voters seem to understand that things change and they believe their politicians desire to make changes that benefit humanity.  The issue with this is that we are still human.  While Republican voters want to freeze the past that most benefits them, Democrats want to create a future that most benefits them.  And in this lies the ‘rub’ of irreconcilable differences.  Both want safety and security for their own beliefs about how life should be, but neither will ever achieve it.  They are utopias that do not exist and can never exist on the same planet.

What does knowing this mean?  Nothing.  It means that when you read CNN and FoxNews side-by-side that you will see both of these beliefs played out in propaganda articles.  Facts look like this: https://www.congress.gov/and https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK26821/.  Neither of these are ‘fun’ reading and neither could be classified as being Republican or Democrat.

Here are facts.

  1. Nothing stays the same.
  2. We all die.
  3. Government systems are not forever. Not one.
  4. I woke up at 5:06 Central Standard Time due to a noise that I still have no idea what it was.
  5. Coffee is now done brewing in my kitchen and I am going to fill my Yeti cup with it.  Black. No cream. No sugar.  Plain and simple, how I want life to be even though it never will be.

Enjoy your day as much as possible.

  1. Coffee sounds amazing. Think I’ll go make a cup. Since, we are all (well most of us) are practicing social distancing, I’d be interested to read a post about a day in the life of your household as you practice it as well. Just a suggestion. Love to you, your lovely wife, and my squishy sandwiches.

No experiment can be more interesting than that we are now trying, and which we trust will end in establishing the fact, that man may be governed by reason and truth. Our first object should therefore be, to leave open to him all the avenues to truth. The most effectual hitherto found, is the freedom of the press. It is, therefore, the first shut up by those who fear the investigation of their actions. …Thomas Jefferson

    1. That is interesting that Jefferson wrote that too because the press hated him for the most part. I am not arguing that the press be silenced. I am arguing that they change how they communicate. They use more emotion than fact. Go to any article and identify the facts. They are extremely vague and difficult to find. We, as readers, need to be aware of this and that we can and are influenced by what we read. We must read both perspectives. But when both perspectives are not telling me anything specific then I begin wondering if I am seeing the Press in action or propaganda in action that is founded in scientific marketing principles in order to keep money flowing into the pockets of those organizations. Our major media outlets are political extensions of their respective parties and their ultimate objectives.
