I have the election results!

Just kidding.  But I will go on record today as saying that I know the outcome already (see this post).

And the winner is…election-results

The winner really is…

You and me.

What? Seriously.  Why? How?

Because regardless of who occupies the White House, Congress, and Supreme Court I am going to live my life to the fullest extent possible, whether free or not.  I hope you will do the same.  Do not put your hopes in other men or women.  People will fail you.  It is how we work.

Put your trust in Something Greater.  And die to the strategy of that Greatness.  When you feel afraid, die to yourself.  It is not about you.  It is about Him.

And it is VERY HARD to do that some times.  Especially when we see the pain and suffering and down right evil of this world.  But you and I can make a difference inside of His purpose.  Love other folks and speak the truth in love.

Talk to the cashier when you are checking out and be genuinely concerned for them.  Ask about their schedule and sympathize with their fatigue.  Tell them you understand and that you hope they have an amazing day at work and after they get off.  People crave relationships.  It is how we were made and how we are assembled.  One day scientist will confirm what I am saying.  Our genetic coding includes the immense desire for relationships.

So when the votes are tallied tomorrow (and some think they have already been tallied with evidence to prove it), don’t let it get you down or up.  Be secure in your position and purpose in this world.  You were bought with a price, by the eternal and unconditional love of a Supreme Being who wants you to know that you can DO NOTHING to earn His love and favor.  Just surrender to Him and He will give you the peace that passes all understanding as you trust in His ultimate plan to redeem this fallen world.  “But what about…” Shut-up!  There is only one ‘but’, “but God“.  Deal with it.

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”  Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”  Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”  -Act 2:36-39 (NKJV)

You and I are the ones “afar off”.

Repent means to turn away from something.  In this case, to turn away from following our own ways towards following God’s ways.

Baptism (this varies) but I guarantee you that Peter meant to be submersed in water as a symbol of identifying with the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ (Christ is Greek for ‘annointed one’ or Messiah type figure).  I am all for sprinkling and pouring a cup of water when there is no water to be submersed in, but come on – the imagery is lacking if I just throw some water on someone.

Too confusing, try these two:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” -John 3:16 (NKJV)

“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. -Romans 10:8-10

And if this doesn’t work for you still, then peace be to you and yours.  Seize the day still for all you can.
