A Riddle about the Devil

Having been around since prehistoric times, this creature loves the dark.  It multiples itself quickly relying on the scraps of men to nourish it and sustain it.  Water will sustain it for days on end and sometimes you can clean your dwelling from top to bottom but it still returns.  It can elicit fear and torments those who lay eyes on it.  Many people take delight in destroying it but no matter how many times you destroy it, it always seems to come back.  You can attack it with a Bible, the larger the print the better.  What is it?
It is not the devil or anything spiritual (although some might say otherwise).

A cockroach!!! Hahaha!! The reason “the larger the print the better” means the Bible will be thicker and can take it out easier. Ha! No really, I don’t know what it is, but I thought I’d try.

    Love ya,
