“There is nothing better for man than to eat, drink, and to enjoy his work. I have seen that even this is from God’s hand. For who can eat and who can enjoy life apart from Him? For to the man who is pleasing in His sight, He gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy, but to the sinner He gives the task of gathering and accumulating in order to give to the one who is pleasing in God’s sight. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.” Ephesians 2:24-26
“What does the worker gain from his struggles? I have seen the task that God has given people to keep them occupied. He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also put eternity in their hearts, but man cannot discover the work God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy the good life. It is also a gift of God whenever anyone eats, drinks, and enjoys all his efforts.” Ephesians 3:9-13 (italics added by Boris)
C.S. Lewis once wrote, “Reality, in fact, is usually something you could not have guessed. That is one of the reasons I believe Christianity. It is a religion you could not have guessed. If it offered us just the kind of universe we had always expected, I should feel we were making it up. But, in fact, it is not the sort of thing anyone would have made up. It has just that queer twist about it that real things have.” (Mere Christianity, pgs. 41-42, 1980)
“But beyond these, my son, be warned: there is no end to the making of many books, and much study wearies the body. When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is: fear God and keep His commands, because this is for all humanity. For God will bring every act to judgment, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil.” Ephesians 12:12-14
What am I trying to convey here?
First, that we should be enjoying life. Life is a gift from God, from parenting to marriage, from work to recreation, from drinking to abstinence (some of us have habitual tendencies and should refrain from drinking in the name of a sound mind and moderation). It is not just to be experienced but enjoyed. If you are not enjoying it then figure out why and what you need to do to change your mindset, attitude, and maybe even situation.
Second, while you are enjoying life remember that God has some rules to follow. Keep in mind that the rules are not restrictive. They allow us to safely and thoroughly soak in all that this place has to offer, mainly in dealing with others. In the end, God will see what we did with the life we lived that He gave us. How will you answer? Will you even be able to give a defense? Shouldn’t our defense be built before we leave this world? Actions speak louder than words. Remember the lesson from Matthew 7:13-23, “Not everyone who says to Me ‘Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
That is all I have for today. My skits for Boris are still being developed. I am having trouble with set design for my main presentations. If anyone knows of a way to make a giant clear ball about 6 feet in diameter while being able to put stuff inside it for others to see then that would be great.
